‘Do not slow down’: Police warning as Bruce Hwy closed after woman attacked near Innisfail

A woman is fighting for her life with injuries sustained in an alleged assault at a home in north Queensland.
Emergency crews were called to a home in Miguel, near Innisfail, at around 4.15pm on Friday.
The woman was treated for life-threatening chest injuries, Queensland Ambulance Service said.

Soon after, police were called to a car crash on the Bruce Hwy in Sandy Pocket where a man fled.
Police have closed the Bruce Hwy and warned people to avoid the area “as a matter of public safety” while they try to find him.
“Do not slow down for anyone trying to approach (your) vehicle,” police said.
“As a matter of public safety, residents and motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
The two incidents are believed to be related.
